Intermediate 3 hours $20
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Sketch a simple outline of a vase and flower arrangement on your blank canvas with a pencil to guide placement.
2. If desired, paint the vase area on the canvas with acrylic paint and let it dry completely to add background texture and color.
3. Condition your polymer clay by kneading it until soft. Choose colors for your flowers and shape petals by rolling small pieces into teardrop shapes.
4. Assemble flower petals by gently pressing them together to form flowers. Add small clay balls for flower centers.
5. Shape the vase from polymer clay by flattening and molding it to create a textured look. Attach the flowers to the top edge of the vase.
6. Carefully place the clay vase and flowers onto the canvas following your sketch. Press lightly to ensure they adhere.
7. Bake the polymer clay on the canvas according to the clay manufacturer's instructions (usually 15-30 minutes at 265-275°F / 130°C). Use a sturdy oven-safe surface if needed.
8. After cooling, use hot glue or strong craft glue to attach small colored pompoms in a line near the vase or flowers to create a caterpillar shape.
9. Use a fine-tip black marker or paint to draw eyes and a smiling face on the first pompom to bring your caterpillar to life.
10. Allow all glue and paint to dry thoroughly before displaying your 3D canvas art.
