Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Prepare the PVC pipe by sanding the surface lightly to help paint adhere.
2. Cut craft foam into shapes for the heron's head, beak, and tail; use the utility knife for precise cuts.
3. Shape the neck by bending a length of wire to a gentle curve; attach it securely to the top of the PVC pipe using hot glue.
4. Use newspaper or scrap paper to bulk out the neck and head area, securing with hot glue.
5. Attach the foam head and beak pieces to the wire frame; smooth joints with glue.
6. Glue feathers onto the PVC pipe starting from the bottom upwards to simulate layering, covering the pipe entirely.
7. Paint the exposed foam and pipe areas with acrylic paints to match heron colors, blending grays and whites.
8. Use black marker or paint pen to add eye details and other fine markings.
9. Create legs by wrapping wire to the desired shape and thickness; paint orange and attach securely to the bottom of the PVC pipe.
10. Let everything dry completely before displaying your feathered heron sculpture.
