1. Measure the wall space behind your desk to confirm the desired bookshelf size.
2. Purchase a wooden board cut to your chosen dimensions or cut to size yourself.
3. Sand the wooden board thoroughly using 120 grit sandpaper, followed by 220 grit for a smooth finish.
4. If desired, apply wood stain or paint to the board. Let it dry completely according to product instructions.
5. Locate studs on your wall using a stud finder. Mark the positions where the shelf brackets will be installed.
6. Hold the floating shelf brackets against the wall at the marked points, use a level to ensure they are perfectly horizontal.
7. Mark the screw holes on the wall through the bracket holes.
8. Drill pilot holes in the wall at the marked spots. If you are not drilling into studs, insert suitable wall anchors.
9. Attach the brackets to the wall securely using wood screws.
10. Slide the wooden board onto the brackets, ensuring a snug fit.
