Buildable Wooden Garden Seat Set

Create a charming and sturdy garden seat set featuring a 2-seat bench, a single chair, and a small table. This project uses simple woodworking techniques and can be completed at home with basic tools.

Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Measure and cut wood planks to size:
- Bench seat: Cut 5 pieces of 1x4 planks at 36 inches long.
- Bench legs/supports: Cut 4 pieces of 1x4 at 18 inches.
- Bench backrest: Cut 3 pieces of 1x4 at 36 inches.
- Chair seat: Cut 4 pieces of 1x4 at 18 inches.
- Chair legs/supports: Cut 4 pieces of 1x4 at 18 inches.
- Chair backrest: Cut 3 pieces of 1x4 at 18 inches.
- Table top: Cut 4 pieces of 1x6 at 18 inches.
- Table legs: Cut 4 pieces of 1x4 at 18 inches.
2. Sand all wood pieces thoroughly with 120 grit then 220 grit sandpaper to smooth edges and surfaces.
3. Assemble bench seat by screwing the 5 seat planks side by side onto two supporting planks underneath, spaced evenly.
4. Attach legs to the bench seat corners using 2.5-inch screws and wood glue for extra strength.
5. Assemble backrest by attaching the 3 backrest planks vertically to two horizontal support pieces, then secure this to the bench back legs.
6. Repeat steps 3-5 for the single chair but using the smaller dimensions for seat and backrest.
7. Assemble the table by screwing the 4 table top planks side by side onto two supporting planks underneath.
8. Attach the table legs to the corners of the tabletop using 2.5-inch screws and wood glue.
9. Fill any screw holes or imperfections with wood filler and let dry.
10. Sand lightly again to smooth filled areas.
11. Apply exterior wood paint or stain with sealant to all pieces for weather protection. Allow to dry according to instructions.
12. Optionally, add outdoor cushions to the bench and chair for comfort.
13. Arrange your new garden seat set and enjoy your handcrafted outdoor furniture!
