Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Prepare Templates: Draw a 10cm diameter circle on paper for the base.
2. Draw and cut two cream ovals: Head (45x35mm), Paw (25x15mm).
3. Using the base template, cut one Deep Teal fabric circle.
4. Cut thin batting to 10cm circle.
5. Mark applique placement on the base fabric: Head oval at (25mm, 0mm) from center to the right (3 o'clock), Paw oval at (20mm right, -30mm down).
6. Pin batting between base fabric and a backing fabric (optional for stability).
7. Pin applique pieces onto the base fabric at marked positions.
8. Hand-stitch appliques with a small running or blanket stitch using matching thread.
9. Embroider cat details with black thread: eyes (simple stitches), whiskers (straight stitches), toe lines on paw (short lines).
10. For eyes, use satin stitch or small straight stitches; whiskers and toes use straight stitches.
11. Prepare a backing fabric circle same size as base.
12. Place backing fabric on the wrong side of the coaster, right sides facing out.
13. Sew around the edges with a small running stitch, leaving a small gap.
14. Turn coaster inside out through the gap ('bagging out'), carefully pushing corners.
15. Insert batting inside if not already sandwiched.
16. Hand-stitch gap closed with ladder stitch for a clean finish.
17. Press lightly with iron to flatten and finish coaster.
