Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Cut all lumber to size:
- Tabletop slats: 6 pieces of 2x6 at 72 inches (6 feet)
- Seat slats: 4 pieces of 2x6 at 72 inches
- Legs: 4 pieces of 2x4 at 28 inches (angled cuts at 75 degrees for A-frame)
- Cross supports: 2 pieces of 2x4 at 48 inches
- Seat supports: 4 pieces of 2x4 at 36 inches
2. Sand all pieces smoothly, rounding edges for comfort.
3. Assemble the A-frame legs:
- Attach two legs together on each side with a cross support (48-inch 2x4) near the top, creating two A-shapes.
4. Attach seat supports horizontally between the two A-frames at 18 inches from the ground.
5. Secure seat slats onto the seat supports evenly spaced.
6. Attach the tabletop supports (36-inch 2x4 pieces) horizontally between the A-frames at about 28 inches height.
7. Screw the tabletop slats evenly spaced onto the tabletop supports.
8. Reinforce all joints with wood glue and screws; optionally add metal corner brackets for extra strength.
9. Apply wood stain or paint to all surfaces; allow to dry.
10. Finish with a coat of wood sealer or outdoor varnish for weather protection.
11. Let cure fully before use.
