Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Cut the pine boards as follows:
- Seat slats (1"x4") - 4 pieces, each 16" long
- Front and back seat supports (1"x4") - 2 pieces, each 18" long
- Chair legs (1"x4") - 4 pieces, each 18" long
- Backrest panel (1"x6") - 1 piece, 18" wide
2. Sand all cut pieces smoothly using 120 grit, then finish with 220 grit sandpaper.
3. Assemble the seat frame by attaching the front and back supports between two seat slats to form a rectangle (16"x18") using wood glue and screws.
4. Attach the remaining 2 seat slats evenly spaced across the frame using glue and screws.
5. Attach the four legs to each corner of the seat frame with screws and glue, ensuring they are perpendicular and stable.
6. Attach the backrest panel vertically to the rear legs using screws and glue, aligning it flush with the top of the legs.
7. Fill any screw holes or imperfections with wood filler, let dry, and sand smooth.
8. Apply wood finish or paint as desired; let dry completely.
9. Attach felt pads to the bottom of each leg to protect flooring.
