Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Prepare a star template by drawing or printing a star shape about 4-5 inches wide.
2. Using the template, trace two stars onto your cardstock. Cut out both stars carefully.
3. On one star, cut out a smaller star shape in the center, leaving about a 0.5-inch border all around. This will be the top cover.
4. Decorate both stars with markers, glitter, stickers, or stamps to add New Year themes like fireworks, '2024', or sparkles. Let decorations dry if needed.
5. Place the cookie on the solid star (the bottom piece).
6. Gently place the star with the cut-out center over the cookie, aligning the points.
7. Use a hole punch to make two holes near one edge of both stars, then thread ribbon or twine through and tie a bow to secure the cover around the cookie.
8. Optionally, add a small gift tag or a handwritten New Year message tied to the ribbon.
9. Your double star cookie cover is ready to gift!
