Step-by-Step Instructions
Part 1: Gathering Family Tree Information
1. Create a family tree worksheet by drawing a simple chart with spaces for names, birthdates, and relationships.
2. Interview family members or use existing documents to fill in the worksheet with names, dates, and any interesting stories.
3. Collect or print small photos of family members to include in the book.
Part 2: Making the Accordion Book
1. Cut 5-6 pieces of cardstock to the same size (suggested size: 6x8 inches).
2. Fold each cardstock piece in half lengthwise to create a crease.
3. Glue the folded cardstock pieces together along the short edges to form an accordion fold (attach the back of one fold to the front of the next).
4. On each panel of the accordion, arrange and glue family photos, names, and facts from your worksheet.
5. Decorate each panel with colored pens, embellishments, and stickers to personalize.
6. Optionally, punch holes along one edge and tie a ribbon or twine to keep the book closed.
7. Add a cover page with a title such as "My Family Tree" and decorate it.
8. Allow glue and decorations to dry completely before handling.
