Home Aquaponic System with Three PVC Towers and 120L Fish Pond

Build a compact and efficient aquaponic system using PVC pipes to create three growing towers linked to a 120-liter fish pond. This sustainable setup recycles water and nutrients naturally, allowing you to grow fresh vegetables while raising fish in a space of 200cm by 80cm.

Intermediate 6 hours $150
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Prepare the fish pond container by cleaning it thoroughly and placing it in your desired location.
2. Cut the PVC pipes into three equal towers, approximately 150 cm each.
3. Using the drill and hole saw, cut evenly spaced holes (3-4 cm diameter) along each PVC pipe to fit your net pots for plants. Space holes about 15-20 cm apart.
4. Cap the bottom of each PVC pipe securely with PVC end caps and seal with fish-safe silicone to prevent leaks.
5. Attach PVC elbow joints at the base of each tower to create an outlet for water drainage.
6. Arrange the three towers inside or beside the fish pond container, ensuring they stand upright and stable.
7. Connect the submersible water pump inside the pond to the top openings of each tower using flexible tubing and tubing clamps to deliver water upward.
8. Allow water to flow from the pump up the towers, trickling down through the net pots and growing medium, and returning to the pond through the outlets.
9. Fill the net pots with hydroton clay pebbles and insert your plants.
10. Condition the pond water with fish-safe water conditioner and introduce your fish.
11. Test water parameters regularly and adjust as needed.
12. Optionally install an air pump and air stones to increase oxygen levels for fish.
13. Monitor system daily to ensure water circulation and fish health.
14. Harvest plants as they mature and enjoy your home aquaponic garden.
