Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Thoroughly wash and dry the plastic bottles to remove any residue.
2. Using the marker, draw a horizontal opening approximately 4-5 inches wide on the side of each bottle, about halfway down.
3. Carefully cut out the openings using the utility knife or scissors, creating a pocket for the soil and plants.
4. Drill 3-4 small drainage holes on the bottom of each bottle to allow excess water to escape.
5. If desired, spray paint the bottles with outdoor paint and allow them to dry completely to enhance appearance and UV resistance.
6. Screw small eye hooks into the bottle caps.
7. Thread the twine or nylon rope through the eye hooks on the bottle caps, spacing the bottles evenly (about 8-10 inches apart).
8. Secure the rope ends at the top with a strong knot or by tying to a sturdy support (like a wall hook or wooden frame).
9. Fill each bottle pocket with potting soil, packing lightly.
10. Plant herb seeds or small herb plants into the soil pockets.
11. Water the plants gently and hang your vertical garden in a location with appropriate sunlight.
12. Maintain your garden by watering regularly and harvesting herbs as they grow.
