Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Plan and measure the space to ensure clearance for a 7-foot tall loft bed with a 10-foot length and 4-foot width.
2. Cut 2x4 lumber to build the main frame: four vertical posts (7 feet), side rails (10 feet), and cross supports (4 feet).
3. Assemble the rectangular bed frame by attaching side rails to vertical posts using wood screws and wood glue.
4. Add cross supports inside the frame for mattress support.
5. Cut plywood to create the flat ceiling section (3 feet depth) and the sloped ceiling section following the angle of the staircase.
6. Construct the staircase frame with 10 steps using 2x4s, ensuring each step is around 7-8 inches tall.
7. Attach plywood stair treads securely to the staircase frame.
8. Attach the staircase to the side of the loft bed frame.
9. Secure the flat ceiling section atop the loft bed frame and the sloped ceiling section above the stairs.
10. Sand all surfaces smooth to prevent splinters.
11. Prime and paint or stain the entire structure as desired.
12. Optionally, add non-slip treads to stairs for safety.
13. Place mattress on the loft bed frame and test stability before use.
