Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Measure your bed height to confirm the ramp length and angle; adjust plywood length if needed to create a gentle incline (around 30 degrees).
2. Cut the plywood to the desired length and width (approx. 24" wide x 36" long).
3. Cut two wooden side rails to the length of the plywood (36" each).
4. Sand all edges of the plywood and side rails smoothly using medium then fine grit sandpaper to prevent splinters.
5. Attach the side rails vertically along the long edges of the plywood using wood glue and screws, creating a slight barrier to prevent your dog from slipping off the sides.
6. Apply non-slip adhesive tape or attach rubber matting securely to the top surface of the plywood to provide traction for your dog.
7. (Optional) Paint or stain the ramp with pet-safe products and let dry completely.
8. Attach rubber feet or furniture pads to the bottom corners of the ramp to prevent slipping on the floor.
9. Position the ramp securely against the bed, ensuring it is stable and at a comfortable incline.
10. Introduce your Chihuahua to the ramp gently, encouraging use with treats and praise.
