Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Measure and cut the wooden board to your desired length for the shelf.
2. Sand the edges and surfaces of the board using 120 grit sandpaper, followed by 220 grit for a smooth finish.
3. Decide on the size and number of storage compartments you want. Mark these areas on the underside of the shelf.
4. Using a drill, create pocket holes on the marked sections to attach the dividers later.
5. Cut additional smaller pieces of wood for dividers to create hidden compartments.
6. Assemble the dividers using wood glue and pocket hole screws, securing them to the bottom of the shelf.
7. If desired, paint or stain the shelf to match your decor.
8. Allow the finish to dry completely before proceeding.
9. Use a stud finder to locate wall studs, then mark where the brackets will be installed.
10. Attach wall brackets or a French cleat to the wall, ensuring it is level.
11. Hang the shelf on the brackets, securing it in place.
12. Organize small items into the hidden compartments and display your decor on top.
