Mobile Router Sled for Precision Woodworking
Create a mobile router sled using a waterproof plywood sheet, rectangular pipes, and L-profiles to enhance precision in woodworking projects. This sled allows the router to move smoothly and accurately, making it easier to create clean cuts and grooves.
Intermediate 5 hours $150
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Cut the waterproof plywood sheet to the desired size if necessary.
2. Measure and mark the positions for the rectangular pipes on the left and right edges of the plywood sheet, ensuring they are spaced evenly and do not extend beyond the edges.
3. Secure the rectangular pipes to the plywood using wood screws and wood glue for added stability.
4. Attach the L-profiles on top of the rectangular pipes, ensuring they can slide freely. Use clamps to hold them in place temporarily.
5. Drill holes in the L-profiles to attach the router mounting plate securely.
6. Mount the router onto the mounting plate, ensuring it is level and secure.
7. Test the movement of the router on the L-profiles, adjusting as necessary for smooth operation.
8. Optionally, sand any rough edges and apply a wood finish for a polished look.
9. Finally, perform a test run to ensure everything is working as intended before using it on actual projects.
