Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Clean the old wooden gate thoroughly and let it dry.
2. Measure the desired length of the bench seat on the gate and mark it with a pencil.
3. Use the saw to cut the gate at the marked length to create the bench seat.
4. Sand all cut edges and surfaces smoothly using medium then fine grit sandpaper.
5. Position two wooden crates or sturdy wooden boxes parallel to each other at the desired bench width to serve as legs/supports.
6. Place the cut gate piece on top of the crates, centering it evenly.
7. Apply wood glue to the contact surfaces between the gate seat and crates.
8. Secure the seat to the crates using wood screws; drill pilot holes first to prevent splitting.
9. Optionally, paint or seal the bench with wood paint or sealant to protect it and enhance appearance.
10. Allow paint or sealant to dry fully before use.
11. Place the bench in your desired location and enjoy your repurposed wooden gate furniture.
