Smart Video Streaming Glasses

Smart Video Streaming Glasses

Create a pair of glasses equipped with a small camera to capture video from your perspective and stream it live to your home computer via Wi-Fi. This project uses inexpensive components and basic soldering skills to assemble a wearable video streaming device.

Intermediate 4 hours $70
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Prepare the glasses frame by selecting a spot on the rim (preferably near the temple) to mount the camera securely.
2. Attach the USB camera module to the chosen spot on the glasses frame using double-sided tape or hot glue. Make sure the lens is unobstructed and faces forward.
3. Connect the camera module to the Raspberry Pi Zero W using the flexible USB cable.
4. Install the Raspberry Pi OS on the micro SD card and set up the Raspberry Pi Zero W with Wi-Fi connectivity.
5. Install and configure a lightweight video streaming server on the Raspberry Pi (e.g., using mjpg-streamer or motion).
6. Mount the Raspberry Pi and power bank on the glasses’ arms or on a small strap that can be worn behind the head or on a lanyard.
7. Connect the power bank to the Raspberry Pi using the USB power cable.
8. Power on the Raspberry Pi and test the video stream by accessing the IP address of the Pi from your home computer’s web browser.
9. Adjust camera angle and mounting for comfort and optimal video capture.
10. Secure all components with Velcro strips or elastic bands to ensure stability during movement.
11. When you go out, connect the glasses to the portable power bank, and ensure your home computer is connected to the same network or set up port forwarding to view the stream remotely.
