Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Cut four wooden planks to 2 feet in length each for the sides.
2. Cut two additional planks to 12 inches for the shorter ends.
3. Sand all pieces to smooth any rough edges.
4. Arrange two long planks parallel, then place a short plank at each end to form a rectangle.
5. Drill pilot holes to prevent splitting, then screw the pieces together to form the box frame.
6. Repeat for the opposite side with the remaining planks.
7. Attach the two rectangular frames by screwing vertical supports at each corner (can use scrap wood or cut four 6-inch pieces).
8. Optionally, add a bottom by screwing wooden slats or a solid piece to the underside.
9. Sand the entire planter again to smooth joints.
10. Apply exterior paint or sealant to protect the wood from weather.
11. Let dry completely before filling with soil and plants.
