Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Gather and clean all metal rods or hangers, removing rust and dirt using a wire brush or sandpaper.
2. Cut the metal rods to your desired length for the trellis height (typically 5-6 feet) and width (2-3 feet).
3. Use the metal file or sandpaper to smooth any sharp edges.
4. Arrange the rods into a rectangular frame and secure the corners by twisting galvanized wire tightly with pliers.
5. Create crossbars by cutting additional rods or bending wire to form horizontal supports inside the frame, securing each with wire twists.
6. Weave thinner wire in a crisscross pattern within the frame to form a netting for plant support.
7. Reinforce weak points with extra wire twists or zip ties to ensure stability.
8. (Optional) Apply spray primer and outdoor metal paint to protect against weathering and rust.
9. Let the trellis dry completely before positioning it in your garden.
10. Over time, check and tighten wire connections as needed to maintain sturdiness.
