Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Prepare the main box by cutting out a large front window to serve as the game viewing area.
2. Reinforce the edges of the window with extra cardboard strips glued around for sturdiness.
3. Inside the box, create a platform at the bottom to hold your prizes using a small cardboard tray.
4. Construct the claw using three small cardboard strips shaped into claws, connected at one end with a paper clip to allow opening and closing.
5. Attach rubber bands to the claw ends to provide grip.
6. Connect the claw to a length of string tied to a wooden skewer or dowel that will control the claw’s movement.
7. Insert straws horizontally inside the box as guides for the skewer to slide left and right.
8. Create a vertical guide using another skewer that allows the claw to move up and down when the string is pulled.
9. Assemble a simple pulley system using the skewers and string so pulling the string lowers and raises the claw.
10. Decorate the outside of the box with markers or paint to resemble a classic claw machine.
11. Place small balls or toys inside the prize area.
12. Practice controlling the claw with the string to pick up prizes and drop them into a prize chute made from a small box attached to the side.
13. Adjust string tension and rubber bands to improve claw grip and movement smoothness.
