Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Plan and measure your table dimensions: A standard 8-person table is approximately 96" long by 42" wide.
2. Cut the tabletop board to size.
3. Mark and cut a centered rectangular recess for the game tray (approx. 48" x 20" and 1.5" deep) on the tabletop using a saw.
4. Cut four pieces of wood to create the tray walls to fit inside the recess. Assemble with wood glue and screws to form a box.
5. Sand all surfaces smooth, especially inside the recess and tray.
6. Attach the tray box into the recess with wood glue and screws from underneath.
7. Cut and fit felt fabric or shelf liner to line the inside of the tray; secure with adhesive or double-sided tape.
8. Mark cup holder positions evenly around the table edges (8 spots), drill 2.5" diameter holes for cup holders.
9. Insert wooden rings or purchase ready-made cup holder inserts and fix them into the holes.
10. Construct four sturdy legs from wood or repurpose strong pre-cut legs, attaching them securely with screws and wood glue.
11. Fill any screw holes or imperfections with wood filler, sand smooth.
12. Apply stain or paint to the entire table and legs if desired; let dry.
13. Finish with a clear polyurethane coat for durability.
14. Assemble the table by securing legs to the tabletop.
15. Test the table’s stability and make any adjustments as needed.
16. Place your board games and pieces in the recessed tray, enjoy dining and gaming!
