Simple Wooden Side Table

Build a compact and sturdy wooden side table with just a few basic materials and tools. This beginner-friendly project is perfect for adding a functional piece to your living space or bedroom.

Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Sand the tabletop and legs thoroughly with 120 grit sandpaper, then finish with 220 grit for smoothness.
2. Position the four legs at each corner on the underside of the tabletop, about 1 inch inset from each edge.
3. Apply wood glue to the top of each leg and clamp them in place under the tabletop.
4. Pre-drill holes through the tabletop into each leg to prevent splitting.
5. Secure the legs with wood screws through the pre-drilled holes.
6. Wipe off any excess glue and let dry according to glue instructions.
7. (Optional) Apply wood stain or paint to the entire table and let dry.
8. (Optional) Apply two coats of clear polyurethane finish for protection, sanding lightly between coats.
9. Allow the table to dry fully before use.

1. Pine wood board (18" x 18" x 1") for tabletop
2. Four wooden legs (1.5" x 1.5" x 18")
3. Wood screws (1.5 inch)
4. Wood glue
5. Sandpaper (120 and 220 grit)
6. Wood stain or paint (optional)
