1. Position the MALM desk and two chests in a U-shape: desk as the back support and chests on each side, spacing them evenly.
2. Place rubber pads under each furniture item to prevent slipping.
3. Sand all platform edges and surfaces for smoothness.
4. Reinforce the plywood sheet by attaching wooden slats underneath using wood glue and screws to prevent sagging.
5. Place the plywood platform on top of the desk and chests, ensuring even overhang and alignment.
6. Secure the platform to the desk and chests using L-brackets screwed into the underside of the platform and the top of each furniture piece.
7. Attach safety rails along the long sides of the platform using screws and L-brackets, ensuring they are sturdy and high enough to prevent falls.
8. Anchor the desk and chests to the wall with wall anchors and brackets to ensure stability.
9. Check all connections and test the stability by applying gentle pressure.
10. Optionally, paint or finish the platform and rails with child-safe products.
11. Use the space beneath the loft bed for study, play, or storage, keeping the pull-out desk functional.
