Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Prepare the matches by carefully removing the striking tips from 10 matches to avoid accidental ignition.
2. Use 10 intact matches to build the frame: align 5 matches side by side and glue them together lengthwise to form the base.
3. Glue 3 matches perpendicularly at one end of the base to form the crossbar where the projectile will rest.
4. Bend two steel wires into a 'U' shape (about 2 cm wide) to act as the bow limbs.
5. Attach each steel wire limb to the sides of the crossbar using glue or by twisting the ends around the matchsticks securely.
6. Hook the rubber band around the ends of the steel wire limbs, creating the bowstring.
7. Create a small notch at the center of the crossbar (using a wire or by cutting a small groove) to hold and release the projectile.
8. Place a matchstick (without tip) on the notch as the projectile.
9. Pull back the rubber band bowstring, holding the matchstick in place, then release to shoot.
10. Test the crossbow on a safe surface and adjust the tension or positioning as needed.
