Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Measure and mark a 24-inch section on the pine board.
2. Using the circular saw, cut the board to the 24-inch length.
3. Draw scalloped shapes along one long edge of the board; a simple half-circle pattern about 3 inches wide each works well.
4. Carefully cut the scalloped edge using the circular saw, making shallow passes or freehand if comfortable.
5. Sand all edges and surfaces with 120 grit sandpaper, then finish with 220 grit for smoothness.
6. Apply wood glue and screw together any supports if you choose to add a back or bottom brace (optional for stability).
7. Prime the wood, let dry, then paint or stain using baby-safe, non-toxic finishes.
8. After drying, mark the wall where you want to mount the shelf.
9. Install wall anchors suitable for your wall type.
10. Screw the shelf securely into the anchors.
11. Allow paint or stain to cure fully before placing items on the shelf.
