Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Remove all drawers from the dresser and clean the surface thoroughly.
2. Measure and mark the countertop area where the vessel sink will sit.
3. Remove the drawer or drawer face where the plumbing will pass through to create space.
4. Cut a hole in the top surface of the dresser for the sink drain using a jigsaw or hole saw, following the sink manufacturer’s specifications.
5. Reinforce the top surface by attaching a piece of bathroom-grade plywood or MDF underneath the top for added strength and water resistance.
6. Sand all surfaces thoroughly, focusing on edges and areas that will be visible.
7. Apply waterproof wood sealer or marine varnish to all surfaces, including inside drawers and drawer faces, with multiple coats for durability.
8. Once dry, paint or stain the dresser with water-resistant bathroom paint or stain, applying multiple coats and allowing proper drying time.
9. Reinstall drawers, ensuring any drawer faces removed for plumbing clearance are adjusted or removed.
10. Place the vessel sink on top, apply silicone caulk around the base to seal it against water intrusion.
11. Install the sink drain and connect plumbing (P-trap and supply lines) through the hole made in the dresser.
12. Apply silicone caulk around any joints or seams to prevent water damage.
13. Allow all finishes and sealants to cure fully before using the vanity.
14. Regularly check and maintain seals to ensure longevity.
