2. Clean the furniture thoroughly to remove dust and grease.
3. Lightly sand the surfaces with medium grit sandpaper to help paint adhere.
4. Apply a base coat of chalk or acrylic paint with a brush; let it dry completely.
5. Add a second coat if needed for even coverage.
6. Using sandpaper, gently distress edges, corners, and flat surfaces to reveal some of the original finish underneath.
7. Apply dark wax or brown glaze over the painted surfaces with a cloth to create an aged look; wipe off excess immediately.
8. Allow the wax or glaze to dry and cure as per product instructions.
9. If desired, lightly sand again to enhance the distressed effect.
10. Reattach hardware or replace with vintage-style knobs for added authenticity.
