Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Measure your tree stand's base diameter and height to determine the size of the truck bed hole and collar height.
2. Using the measuring tape and pencil, sketch the outline of the truck's side profile on large cardboard sheets. Include the cab, wheels, and the truck bed large enough to hold the tree stand.
3. Cut out two identical side panels of the truck using a box cutter.
4. Cut out cardboard strips 4-6 inches wide to connect the two side panels, forming the truck's depth and bed walls.
5. Assemble the frame by hot gluing the strips between the two side panels, creating a hollow truck shape with an open bottom.
6. Cut out circular wheel shapes from cardboard and attach them to the truck sides; paint tires black and add white hubcaps.
7. Use newspaper strips dipped in paper mache paste to cover the entire truck frame. Apply 2-3 layers, allowing each layer to dry fully (about 4-6 hours per layer).
8. Cut a hole in the truck bed center that fits your tree stand snugly.
9. Once dry, paint the truck in classic Christmas red with black details (tires, windows) and white accents (headlights, trim).
10. Apply clear varnish or sealant to protect the paint.
11. Optionally, decorate with a miniature wreath on the grill or small lights.
12. Place the collar around your tree stand, insert the tree through the hole, and enjoy your festive vintage truck display.
