Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Prepare your workspace by covering it with a plastic table cover or garbage bags to protect from dye stains.
2. Pre-wash the t-shirt to remove any sizing; do not dry it. The shirt should be damp for dyeing.
3. Decide on a tie-dye pattern (spiral, crumple, stripes, etc.). For a spiral, pinch the center of the shirt and twist it into a tight spiral, securing with rubber bands to form sections.
4. Prepare your dye according to the instructions on the tie-dye kit.
5. Wearing gloves, apply dye to each section of the shirt, alternating colors as desired. Make sure to saturate the fabric well.
6. Place the dyed shirt in a plastic bag or wrap in plastic wrap to keep it damp and allow the dye to set. Let it sit for 6-8 hours or overnight.
7. Rinse the shirt under cold water while still tied to remove excess dye until water runs clear.
8. Remove the rubber bands and continue rinsing until the water is clear.
9. Wash the shirt separately in cold water with a mild detergent and dry it.
10. Your custom tie-dye t-shirt is ready to wear!
