Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Select an old denim jacket as your base. Wash and dry it to ensure it is clean.
2. Choose fabric scraps with patterns and colors you like. Plan patch placement by laying them on the jacket and arranging for a balanced look.
3. Measure and cut patches in various shapes (squares, rectangles, or irregular) sized between 3-6 inches, depending on jacket size.
4. Use chalk or fabric marker to mark placement on the jacket.
5. Optionally, use fabric glue to temporarily secure patches onto the jacket to keep them from shifting while sewing.
6. Thread your needle with matching or contrasting thread, and pin patches in place.
7. Sew the patches onto the jacket using a straight stitch or blanket stitch, sewing around the edges securely. For extra style, use embroidery floss to add decorative stitches or patterns on or around patches.
8. Iron the patches gently to flatten seams and set stitches.
9. Inspect the jacket for any loose threads or edges and trim or reinforce as needed.
10. Optionally, add additional embellishments like buttons or fabric paint to enhance the boho vibe.
