Rustic Wooden Floating Shelves

Create simple and stylish rustic floating shelves to add functional storage and charm to any room. This project uses basic woodworking techniques and is perfect for beginners looking to enhance their home decor.

Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Measure and cut the wood plank to desired shelf length (24 inches recommended).
2. Sand all surfaces of the wood plank starting with 120 grit, then finishing with 220 grit for a smooth surface.
3. If desired, apply wood stain or paint evenly with a brush or cloth. Allow to dry completely according to product instructions.
4. Attach the floating shelf brackets to the back side of the shelf using wood screws and wood glue for extra strength.
5. Mark the wall where you want to mount the shelves using a pencil and level to ensure they will be straight.
6. Drill holes into the wall at marked points and insert wall anchors suitable for your wall type.
7. Secure the brackets onto the wall anchors tightly.
8. Place the shelf onto the mounted brackets, ensuring it fits snugly and is level.
9. Repeat for additional shelves as desired.
10. Decorate your new shelves with books, plants, or decor items.
