Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Cut the pine board into three pieces: two side pieces (8" x 8") and one shelf base (36" x 8").
2. Sand all surfaces and edges with 120 grit sandpaper, then finish with 220 grit for smoothness.
3. Assemble the shelf by attaching the side pieces perpendicular to the base piece using wood glue and screws. Pre-drill holes to avoid splitting.
4. Fill any screw holes or gaps with wood filler, let dry, then sand smooth.
5. Apply painter’s tape to protect edges and stain or paint the shelf as desired. Let it dry completely.
6. Apply a clear polyurethane finish for protection and durability; allow to dry.
7. Mark the wall where you want to mount the shelf, ensuring it is level.
8. Install wall anchors suitable for your wall type.
9. Attach the shelf to the wall anchors using screws, ensuring it is securely mounted and level.
10. Clean the shelf and decorate as desired.
